During storms the roads are closed so you need to pay attention to weather and roads. To check the weather use: Home-page - Icelandic Meteorological Office | Icelandic Meteorological office (vedur.is) - it gives live overview of the weather on the whole island. On mobile I use TRAVELS/TOOLS/Ventusky and it was quite precise during the trip however the weather changes very fast on Iceland so the forecast for the next day might not be accurate. Few times we checked the weather for the next day and eventually it was different. However the information about the storm and few hours ahead were quite accurate.
